There are a number of reasons why a birthing injury might occur, but the ones that appear to be most common are from:
- errors that appear in the antenatal screening and scanning
- physical injuries to mothers that have occurred during pregnancy or birth
- stillbirths or neonatal deaths
The current state of the NHS is also a cause for concern. The cuts in funding have meant cuts in staffing levels and midwives have been as affected as much as all other areas of the NHS.
This decrease in staffing levels has had a terrible impact on care, and unless there are drastic changes, it’s only set to get worse. This is why we’ve seen a surge in the number of birth injury negligence claims over the past few years.
If you believe that you, or your baby, have suffered a birth injury and you think it may be due to negligence, contact us. We can tell you quickly and easily if your claim for compensation is likely to be successful.
